Last week, in Spiritual Direction, I was given a homework assignment: go--find some wildflowers--be renewed. So my wonderful husband offered to spend Saturday, helping me hunt some beautiful wildflowers. He had been told there were beautiful fields near Pleasanton, and I had been told to check out south Texas. So, we drove US Hwy 281 south of San Antonio to Pleasanton. We saw some wildlfowers but nothing spectacular.
We stopped a tourist information station in Pleasanton where we saw this field of bluebonnets.
Next, we headed east on Texas 97 towards Floresville. We saw several beautiful displays of wildflowers along this road.
We saw purple poppies, which we had not seen before.
At Floresville, we headed north towards Seguin on US 181. We saw the last of our spectacular mixed wildflowers just south of Seguin.
It was such a nice trip--talking with Kevin, looking for wildflowers, enjoying the sunny day, and feeling released from coursework just for the afternoon. Truly I was renewed--ready to "hit the books" when we returned home.
Thank you, Jean, for the assignment!
Here are all my wildflower pictures from this excursion.
